(Washington/Tehran, consolidated news) US President Trump said that the US and Iran were scheduled to sign an agreement on June 14th, and the Strait of Hormuz would then immediately be open to all. However, the Iranian side denied signing on that day and only stated that the agreement was expected to be signed within the next few days. Meanwhile, Israel launched another attack on the capital of Lebanon, Beirut, which may affect the diplomatic process of ending the war.

On Saturday (the 13th), Trump posted a message on social media claiming that the US and Iran would sign an agreement on Sunday. He stated that Iran no longer seeks to possess nuclear weapons and will not acquire them through purchasing, independent research and development, or any other means.

He also said that once the situation calms down, the United States will go to Iran at an appropriate time to retrieve the enriched uranium that was buried in the mountains after the US military's bombing, dilute and destroy these nuclear materials.

Trump wrote: "We look forward to long-term cooperation with Iran and the entire Middle East region. We hope this process can proceed quickly, smoothly and without any difficulties. If things don't go as planned, we have a final option. We hope it won't have to be used."

Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif also said on Saturday that the US and Iran are expected to finalize the agreement within 24 hours and sign it electronically. Subsequently, technical negotiations will commence next week.

However, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Bagae said earlier on Saturday that the agreement would not be signed on Sunday (the 14th), but it might be signed in the coming days.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran also refuted the claim that the agreement was signed on Sunday, and criticized Trump's move as being merely for publicity purposes, as June 14 was his 80th birthday.

The Iranian Fars News Agency reported on Sunday that Tehran has not yet made a final decision on this agreement and the relevant deliberations are still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that a delegation from Qatar arrived in Tehran on Sunday to hold talks with Iranian officials. AFP quoted a diplomatic official as saying that the purpose of this trip by the Qatar delegation was to assist in facilitating the conclusion of an agreement between the US and Iran.

Israel Launches Another Attack on Beirut; Iran Says US Has Given Permission

As the US and Iran were close to reaching an agreement, Israel launched another attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday, killing at least three people and injuring 15 others. The Israeli military claimed that this was a response to the Lebanese Hezbollah's shelling of northern Israel.

Iranian negotiator and Speaker Kharibaf promptly posted a statement, saying that the United States' tacit approval of Israel's attack indicates that Washington lacks the willingness or ability to fulfill its commitments. If the US fails to keep its promises, it will become impossible to continue the dialogue process.

Reuters quoted an Iranian senior official as saying that according to the final draft of the agreement, Iran will immediately open the Strait of Hormuz to all merchant ships, and the United States will also lift the maritime blockade on Iranian ports.

The United States has agreed not to impose new sanctions on Iran before reaching a final agreement. Additionally, the United States will temporarily lift sanctions on Iranian oil and unfreeze a total of 25 billion US dollars worth of Iranian frozen assets for a specific period.

On the nuclear issue, Iran has committed not to manufacture or acquire nuclear weapons. Before reaching the final agreement, Tehran will maintain the current nuclear status, including not conducting uranium enrichment activities and not expanding nuclear facilities; the United States has agreed to allow Iran to dilute its high-enriched uranium stockpile within its own territory. The relevant arrangements and other issues regarding Iran's nuclear program will be discussed within 60 days and resolved in the final agreement.

Iranian hardliners oppose the agreement on the grounds that: it is not in the country's interests.

The proposed agreement has been opposed by hardliners within Iran, who believe that the content of the agreement does not serve Iran's interests and will cause Iran to lose the advantages it gains from controlling the Strait of Hormuz.

A video released by Fars News Agency shows that dozens of demonstrators gathered outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad on Saturday, opposing the agreement reached between the US and Iran and demanding the resignation of Foreign Minister Araghiz.

Israeli media reported that senior Israeli officials are also concerned that the US and Iran may sign an agreement, believing that this would endanger Israel's security interests. They pointed out that this agreement will not directly achieve any of the goals of the US and Israel in launching a war against Iran, including preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and restricting Iran's ballistic missile program.
