The House of Representatives passed a bill by an overwhelming majority instructing the Department of Justice to make Epstein's files public

The US House of Representatives passed a bill nearly unanimously, instructing the Department of Justice to disclose all the files of the late sex offender Epstein. Epstein's relationship with US President Trump during his lifetime has always been closely watched. Trump and the Republican leaders of the House of Representatives had previously made every effort to obstruct this bill.

According to reports from The New York Times and Bloomberg, the House of Representatives passed the bill on Tuesday (November 18) with an overwhelming majority of 427 votes in favor and 1 against, reflecting that the Epstein file and Trump's handling of it have caused cracks in Trump's political alliance and suggesting that his firm control over the Republican Party has loosened.

A group of Republican dissenting congressmen, including three members of the "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) camp, joined forces with Democrats to bypass the Republican leadership and push for the public release of Epstein's files. They eventually forced Trump to give in instead of following his instructions to abandon the issue.

After Trump had clearly secured enough votes in the House of Representatives, he suddenly changed his stance and called on the Republicans to make Epstein's files public, saying, "We have nothing to hide," and indicated that he would sign the bill.

Now, turn your attention to the Senate. The Senate, which is also controlled by the Republicans, had previously kept its distance from the Epstein file, but now plans to review and pass the bill this week.

Senate Majority Leader John Thun, a Republican, said the Senate would quickly and most likely pass the bill unanimously without considering any amendments. He said, "When a bill passes by a vote of 427 to 1 and the president indicates that he will sign the bill, I don't think there is a need for an amendment process."

According to the latest CNN/SSRS poll, only 37% of Americans approve of Trump. This ratio makes it difficult for many current Republican lawmakers to run for office next year based on Trump's achievements and may create rifts within the party.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll in October showed that only 40 percent of Republicans approved of Trump's approach to handling the Epstein files. Perhaps more telling is that among independent voters, the number of opponents is almost six times that of supporters.
