It is reported that Israel's attempt to assassinate senior Hamas officials failed. The office of the Israeli Prime Minister said the attack was a solo operation.

Al Jazeera reported that the office of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu posted on social media on Tuesday (September 9) : "Today's operation against the Hamas terrorist leader is completely an independent action of Israel."

The post also stated that Israel, which initiated this attack, would also bear full responsibility.

A source said earlier that Israel had informed the United States in advance before launching the attack and had received approval from US President Trump.

However, White House Deputy Press Secretary Kelly told Al Jazeera that the US government has not commented on Israel's attack on Doha so far.

The Israeli military said the attack on the Hamas delegation was part of the "Summit of Fire" operation.

Israeli far-right official Smotridge praised Israel for launching the attack and said it was the "right decision". He posted on social media: "Anywhere in the world, terrorists cannot and will never be able to escape Israel's sanctions."

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Israel for "flagrantly infringing upon Qatar's sovereignty and territorial integrity." He said that Qatar has played a very active role in facilitating the ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages. All parties must strive to achieve a permanent ceasefire instead of undermining it.
