The Israel Defense Forces issued a statement saying that more than 550,000 people have left Gaza City and moved south so far.

Xinhua News Agency reported that the Israel Defense Forces said on Sunday (September 21) that as the offensive against Hamas continues to expand, the Israeli army has advanced deep into Gaza City and engaged in battles with local armed personnel at both ground and underground facilities.

The statement pointed out that the Israeli army warned Gaza civilians to stay away from the war zone through various means such as distributing leaflets, sending text messages and making phone calls. Previously, the Israeli army demanded that all about one million residents in Gaza City be evacuated.

According to Israeli media reports, the Israeli Defense forces entered Gaza City on the evening of September 15th. The ground offensive against Gaza City marks a "new phase" in the Israeli military operation, which is expected to last for several months.
