Israeli military officials: Iran attacked a military base last month

An Israeli military official said on Tuesday (July 8) that Iran carried out air strikes on some Israeli military facilities last month. This is the first time that Israel has publicly admitted that such facilities were attacked.

Reuters reported that the official, who requested anonymity under military briefing rules, said that "very few" facilities were attacked and were still operating normally.

The official refused to provide more details, including which specific military facilities were affected and the severity of the damage to military infrastructure.

Following Israel's raid on June 13th targeting Iran's nuclear facilities and missile depots, Iran carried out multiple rounds of air strikes against Israel last month.

Iran's attacks mainly targeted the densely populated cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa, as well as the areas around Beersheba in the south, where there are many military facilities.

Although the Israeli military disclosed that most of the missiles and drones launched by Iran were intercepted during the 12-day war, several residential buildings were still hit in the attack.

In Israel, a total of 28 people lost their lives. Iranian authorities said that the Israeli attack had killed 935 people.

In Iran, military commanders and civilians were killed, while among the 28 victims in Israel, one was a soldier on leave.

After the United States bombed Iran's nuclear facilities, Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire agreement supported by the United States on June 24.
