US President Trump confirmed that he had spoken with Venezuelan President Maduro on the phone, but did not disclose the specific content of their conversation.

Reuters reported that Trump said on Air Force One on Sunday (November 30) : "I don't want to comment on this." The answer is affirmative."

The New York Times previously reported that Trump spoke with Maduro earlier this month to discuss the possibility of a meeting between the two in the United States. The Wall Street Journal reported that the talks included that the United States would grant amnesty if Maduro stepped down.

Last Saturday (the 29th), Trump warned that the airspace over Venezuela and its surrounding areas should be regarded as "completely closed", but he did not provide more details, which has caused anxiety and confusion in Venezuela as the Trump administration is increasing pressure on the Maduro administration.

When asked if his remarks on airspace meant an upcoming air strike on Venezuela, Trump said, "Don't overinterpret it."

However, Senate Armed Services Committee member Mulin said in a recent interview with CNN: "We gave Maduro a chance to leave." He can go to Russia or to other countries.

When asked whether Trump plans to attack Venezuela, Mullin said, "No, he has made it clear that he will not send troops to Venezuela." What we need to do now is to protect our coastline.

The Trump administration has been weighing various options related to Venezuela to combat what is claimed to be Maduro's role in providing illegal drugs that led to the deaths of Americans. Maduro denied any connection with the illegal drug trade.

According to Reuters, the plans under consideration by the United States include: attempting to overthrow the Maduro regime, and large-scale troop mobilization in the Caribbean region. After nearly three months of strikes against suspected drug trafficking vessels along the Venezuelan coast, the US military is ready to enter a new round of operations. Trump also authorized the CIA to carry out covert operations in Venezuela.

Trump told military personnel last week that the United States would "soon" start land operations to stop suspected drug traffickers in Venezuela.

Maduro and senior government officials have not commented on this call yet. Venezuela's National Assembly Speaker Rodriguez announced on Sunday that a member of parliament would launch an investigation into the US ship attack in the Caribbean Sea.
