South Korean President Lee Jae-myung: The reunification of the two Koreas should be achieved through peaceful means

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung said that even after a long period of time, the reunification of the two Koreas is still an inevitable path and should be carried out in a peaceful and mutually recognized manner.

Yonhap News Agency reported that Lee Jae-myeong delivered a speech at the founding ceremony of the 22nd Consultative Conference on Democratic and Peaceful Reunification on Tuesday (December 2nd). He pointed out that it is not advisable for one side to achieve unity by absorbing or suppressing the other. "Ending the confrontation between South and North Korea and establishing a brand-new relationship of peace and common prosperity between the two Koreas is the task bestowed upon us by The Times."

Lee Jae-myeong also said that in order to promote common development and deepen cooperation between South and North Korea, he suggested resuming dialogue and proposed restoring communication channels between the two Koreas. The South Korean side hopes to promote exchanges and cooperation with North Korea step by step starting from areas such as climate and environment, disaster prevention, and health care.

Regarding the denuclearization issue, Lee Jae-myung pointed out that the South Korean side will continue to make efforts in the future to end the state of war on the Korean Peninsula, achieve denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, and maintain peace.
