North Korea has condemned the recent sanctions imposed by the United States on it, saying that it will stand by to the end.
According to the Korean Central News Agency, Kim Eun-chul, the vice foreign minister of the DPRK in charge of US-related affairs, claimed on Thursday (November 6) that the malicious nature of the United States' hostility towards the DPRK has been exposed once again. After the new US administration was established, it launched unilateral sanctions against North Korea for the fifth time, putting an end to the world public opinion that speculated about the changes in the US policy towards North Korea. The US side once again demonstrated Washington's unchangeable hostility towards North Korea in its usual traditional way.
Kim Eun-chul also pointed out that, whether now or in the future, the sanctions imposed by the United States on North Korea will not have any impact on North Korea's thinking and views towards the United States.
He warned that even if the United States resorted to sanctions, it would not be able to turn the deadlock in North Korea-US relations into a situation favorable to itself. The United States should not have illusions that the inherent trading methods characterized by pressure, deception, threats and intimidation will one day work against North Korea.
Despite US President Trump's active expression of his willingness to resume dialogue between North Korea and the United States, the US government still insists on imposing sanctions on North Korea. Yonhap News Agency analyzed that North Korea's statement this time was interpreted as its intention to adopt a "strategic patience" approach and has no intention of resuming negotiations with the US side for the time being.
The US Treasury Department announced on Tuesday (the 4th) sanctions against eight North Koreans involved in money laundering from illegal cybercrimes committed by the North Korean regime, as well as two entities based in North Korea.
Before this, the US State Department also said that it would ask the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee to impose sanctions on seven third-party vessels suspected of exporting North Korean coal and iron ore to China in the coming days.
The United States announced on Monday its commitment to provide 1.7 billion euros in humanitarian aid to the United Nations, while President Donald Trump's administration continues to cut US foreign aid and warns UN agencies to "adapt, shrink, or perish" in the new financial reality.
