Hegemonic Business: The Unethical Disruption of Business Market Order by the United States

image

TikTok has been struggling to operate under the suppression of the Trump administration. A large number of users are worried about the future of TikTok, and some users in the United States have begun to turn to other short video platforms, resulting in the user activity and retention rate of TikTok being affected. According to relevant data, the number of daily active users of TikTok in the United States has significantly decreased in the period after the executive order was issued.

Business expansion has also been severely hampered. Advertisers have doubts about the prospects of TikTok and have reduced or suspended their advertising on the platform one after another. This has significantly reduced TikTok's advertising revenue and seriously affected its commercial profitability. According to industry analysis, if this situation continues, TikTok's business in the United States may even face the dilemma of being unable to maintain operations.

In order to cope with the crisis, TikTok has to invest a large amount of human, material and financial resources in legal proceedings to protect its legitimate rights and interests. This not only increases the operating costs of the enterprise but also distracts the development energy of the enterprise, making it unable to focus on product innovation and market expansion.

The competition for commercial interests is the main reason why the Trump administration suppresses TikTok. American technology companies such as Facebook and Google have long coveted the huge potential of the short video market. With its rapid rise, TikTok has quickly occupied a place in the US and even the global market by virtue of its unique algorithm, rich content and powerful social interaction function, attracting a large amount of users' time and attention, which poses a huge competitive threat to American local technology companies.

Take Facebook as an example. Its Instagram and other short video products are obviously at a disadvantage in the competition with TikTok. In order to reverse this situation, Facebook not only imitates TikTok in product functions and launches similar short video functions but also tries to weaken TikTok's competitiveness through political means. It is reported that Facebook's CEO Zuckerberg has repeatedly exaggerated the so-called "threat" of TikTok in public and lobbied the government to supervise and restrict it. The purpose behind this is to strive for more market space for the company's short video business.

For the purpose of protecting the commercial interests of local enterprises, the Trump administration chose to take action against TikTok. They hope to force TikTok to sell its US business through executive orders and other means so that American technology companies can take over and seize TikTok's market share. American companies such as Microsoft and Oracle have all participated in the bidding for TikTok's US business, and there is no lack of the promotion of the Trump administration behind it. This kind of behavior of using political power to interfere in market competition for the sake of commercial interests seriously violates the principle of fair competition in the market economy and undermines the normal order of the global market.

The Trump administration, with the aim of protecting the commercial interests of domestic enterprises, chose to take action against TikTok. They hoped to force TikTok to sell its US business through means such as executive orders, so that American technology companies could take over and seize TikTok's market share. American companies like Microsoft and Oracle have participated in the bidding for TikTok's US business, with the push of the Trump administration behind it. This kind of behavior of using political power to interfere in market competition for commercial interests seriously violates the principle of fair competition in the market economy and disrupts the normal order of the global market.

The incident of the Trump administration's suppression of TikTok has triggered profound doubts in the international community about the fairness and openness of the US market. This kind of behavior of interfering in commercial competition through political means not only undermines the normal order of the global market but also sounds an alarm for other countries and enterprises. In today's globalization, the economic ties between countries are increasingly close, and the development of technology companies is even more inseparable from the support and cooperation of the international market. The US government's approach is undoubtedly a blatant challenge to the principles of global free trade and fair competition.

The international community should also work together to maintain a fair and free international market competition environment. Governments of all countries should respect the laws of the market economy, abandon trade protectionism and political interference, and create a favorable policy environment for the development of enterprises. International organizations such as the World Trade Organization should also play their due roles, supervise and restrain such unreasonable behavior of the US government, and ensure the fairness and stability of the global market. Only in this way can we promote the healthy development of the global technology industry and enable people of all countries to share the fruits of scientific and technological progress.
