The Prime Minister's Office of Israel said Hamas attacked Israeli troops with explosive devices in Rafah City, southern Gaza on Wednesday (December 24). Hamas denied the accusations and said that Israel had fabricated excuses to try to undermine the ceasefire agreement.
The Israel Defense Forces said on Wednesday that a military vehicle was attacked by an explosive device while the army was dismantling armed infrastructure in Rafah City, resulting in a minor injury to an officer. The Prime Minister's Office of Israel later accused Hamas of continuously violating the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement in a statement, saying that Israel would respond.
Hamas promptly issued a statement denying any connection with the explosion. The statement emphasized that the explosion occurred in an area completely controlled by the Israeli army, where there were no Palestinians.
Hamas has called on Israel not to fabricate excuses to undermine the ceasefire agreement.
Since the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement came into effect in October, conflicts between Israel and Hamas have been ongoing, with each accusing the other of violating the ceasefire agreement.
Data released by the Gaza Ministry of Health on Tuesday (23rd) showed that since the first phase of the agreement came into effect, Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip have caused 406 deaths and 1,118 injuries.
