Israeli Defense Minister Katz said that Israel is waiting for the United States to give the "green light" so that it can "send Iran back to the Stone Age".

AFP reported that Katz gave a video speech on Thursday (April 23rd) saying: "The Israel Defense Forces are ready for defense and attack, and the target has been identified."

Katz said: "We are waiting for the US to give the green light - first and foremost, it is to completely eradicate the Khamenei regime... In addition to this, we also need to destroy key energy and power facilities and undermine the country's economic infrastructure, pushing Iran back to the Dark Ages and the Stone Age."

He said: "This strike will be completely different and even more devastating. After the Iranian terrorist regime has suffered a huge blow, we will launch a devastating attack on its most vulnerable points, shaking and destroying its foundation."

On February 28th, on the first day of the massive attack launched by the US-Israeli coalition against Iran, the then supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed. Khamenei's son, Mojtaba, subsequently succeeded to his father's position, but has not yet made any public appearances. On April 11th, Reuters quoted three sources from Mojtaba's inner circle as saying that Mojtaba was disfigured in the attack and had serious injuries to one or both of his legs.

On the 23rd, US President Trump announced at the White House that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to extend the ceasefire for three weeks. He said that he would not use nuclear weapons against Iran. Trump, who had threatened to completely destroy Iranian civilization, said: "No one should be allowed to use nuclear weapons."

On the 21st, Trump announced an indefinite extension of the ceasefire just before the expiration of the US-Iran ceasefire agreement, creating space for the US-Iran negotiations.
