为促进泰国旅游业发展，泰国政府将为中国游客提供签证便利，以吸引更多中国游客赴泰旅游。
中国通讯社报道，根据泰国首相府网站发布的消息，中国游客赴往泰国的旅游签证审批已缩短为七个工作日。
泰国首相府副发言人拉查达星期四（8月10日）称，目前泰国外交部已调整电子签证申请系统上的所需资料，简化为护照首页、证件照、机票、住宿证明、地址证明、财务证明等六种资料，泰国外交部也将签证资料审核时限由14个工作日缩短至七个工作日。此外，泰国外交部、泰国旅游和体育部、泰国国家旅游局正在建立信息联网系统，以加快签证申请文件的审核速度。
据泰国旅游和体育部最新统计，今年7月31日至8月6日期间，赴泰游客日均8万人次以上，今年以来累计接待国际游客已达1600万人次。赴泰旅游人数最多的五个国家分别为马来西亚、中国、韩国、印度和俄罗斯。
