Iranian President: Will continue negotiations with the United States within the framework of international law

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stated that Iran is willing to continue negotiations with the US within the framework of international law and will abide by the ceasefire terms. Previously, the "excessive ambition" of the US hindered the conclusion of the agreement.

Xinhua News Agency reported that the Iranian presidential office issued a statement on Sunday (April 13th) saying that Paezizharyan, during a phone call with French President Macron on that day, stated that the Iranian side believes that diplomacy is the preferred approach to resolving disputes. "Measures based on threats, pressure and military actions not only fail to solve the problem but also make it more complicated and exacerbate the problem caused by the US alone."

Regarding the Iran-US negotiations held in Pakistan recently, Pezheszhiyan said that the Iranian delegation demonstrated seriousness and sincerity in striving for a lasting agreement. Although the two sides reached certain consensus at the technical expert level, the "excessive ambition" and lack of political will of the US senior officials hindered the final conclusion of the agreement.

In response to the US threat of blocking the Strait of Hormuz, Peshchizhijan said that any threat to the security of this strategic passage would have a wide-ranging impact on global trade. Iran, in order to safeguard its national interests, has made adequate preparations to deal with any adverse situation.

On the 12th, US President Trump ordered the US Navy to impose a maritime blockade on Iran. The US Central Command announced that starting from 2 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time on the 13th (10 p.m. Singapore time on the 13th), a blockade would be imposed on Iranian ports in the Gulf.
