Israel continues to launch attacks on the southern part of Lebanon

On Tuesday (June 2nd), Israel continued to carry out air strikes in southern Lebanon, intensifying its attacks on Hezbollah. The day before, US President Trump asked Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu not to attack Beirut and to prevent the situation from escalating further.

Reuters reported that the Lebanese government said that with Trump's intervention, Israel would cease launching threatening air strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut controlled by Hezbollah, and Hezbollah would also stop attacking Israel.

But this failed to calm many Lebanese people and also failed to stop the war. Netanyahu vowed that the war would continue. Israeli drones made a loud noise over Beirut on Tuesday, causing unease among the residents.

In the south, Israel's air strikes and artillery bombardments affected a series of towns. The Israeli army ordered the residents of Nabi Yehuda to evacuate before the air strikes.

The Hezbollah did not announce any new military operation on Tuesday, but the Israeli army said they had intercepted two shells fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory.

Israeli Defense Minister Katz issued a statement from his office, warning that if northern Israeli communities were attacked, the Israeli army would strike the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The test of this policy aimed at protecting our community is straightforward. The outcome will become clear in the coming days: either stop the attacks on Israeli communities, or if the attacks continue, we will strike Dahiya in Beirut.

The Lebanese government said it will hold talks with Israeli officials in Washington on Wednesday (the 3rd) to seek an extension of the ceasefire, although Hezbollah opposes this.

The Lebanese authorities stated that since March 2nd, more than 3,400 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes. The Israeli side claimed that since March, 26 Israeli soldiers and four civilians have been killed in attacks by Hezbollah.
