Syrian officials said that Syria is expected to reach a security agreement with Israel by the end of this year.

AFP reported on Thursday (September 18), citing Syrian Foreign Ministry officials, that progress has been made in the negotiations between Syria and Israel, and Damascus is expected to sign multiple security and military agreements with Israel by the end of 2025. This will be an important milestone after the fall of the Assad regime.

The official disclosed that the security agreement between Syria and Israel focuses on halting Israel's military operations within Syria.

Syrian President Shara also told reporters on Wednesday (the 17th) that negotiations with Israel are expected to bear fruit in the coming days.

Syrian state television reported that Foreign Minister Al-Hibani arrived in Washington, the capital of the United States, on Thursday. This is the first visit by a Syrian foreign minister to the United States in 25 years. The purpose of this trip is to discuss the lifting of the remaining US sanctions against Syria.

After the anti-government forces overthrew the Assad regime in December last year, the Trump administration of the United States has lifted most of the sanctions against Syria.

Syria and Israel have been in a state of technological war since 1948. The United States has been pushing for Syria and Israel to reach an agreement to end the hostile state between the two countries.

After the political upheaval in Syria in December last year, Israel deployed troops to the UN-patrolling Israeli-Syria buffer zone and launched hundreds of air strikes against Syria. After the new regime in Syria came to power, Israel held direct negotiations with the Syrian side.
