Iran's new round of missile and drone strikes against Israel on Monday night (June 16) continued until dawn on the 17th. Israel confirmed that it attacked the building of Iran's state television station.

Tasnim News Agency of Iran quoted Ali Muhammad Naini, a spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran, as saying in the early hours of the 17th that this was the ninth round of strikes by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran against Israel under the "True Commitment -3" operation, which would continue "without interruption" until dawn on the 17th.

The Israel Defense Forces issued a statement early on the 17th confirming that Iran launched a new round of missile attacks on Israel. A pop-up window on the mobile phone of a Xinhua News Agency reporter stationed in Jerusalem warned of the approaching missile. The system showed that air-raid sirens had sounded in the central Israeli city of Tel Aviv and the southern desert area.

According to a report by Iran's state television at around 23:15 local time on the 16th, Iran launched a new round of missile and drone attacks on Israel.

Meanwhile, the office building of Iran's state-owned Islamic Republic Radio and Television Station (IRIB) in the capital Tehran was hit by an Israeli air strike, which once led to the interruption of news broadcasts and reports of casualties.

Local Iranian media reported that when IRIB was hit by an air strike, a female news presenter was fiercely attacking Israel. After the explosion, live broadcast footage showed a loud explosion and thick smoke rising from the TV studio. The announcer left the relay station halfway. The BBC reported that there were casualties in the Israeli air strike on IRIB.

Israel confirmed that it attacked the Iranian broadcasting agency. Reuters quoted an Israeli military statement as saying that the building was also a communication center used by the Iranian armed forces. The Israeli military claims that the Israeli Air Force strikes a "communication center" of the Iranian armed forces for military purposes based on intelligence. The statement said that the Iranian armed forces used the building under the guise of civilian use, concealing the military purposes of the center's infrastructure and assets.

Xinhua News Agency quoted The Times of Israel as saying that the statement confirmed that the Israeli army bombed the radio and television building of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tehran, the capital of Iran, on the same day.

Agence France-Presse quoted Esmaeil Baqaei, the spokesperson of Iran's Foreign Ministry, as saying that Israel's attack on IRIB during the news broadcast was an "evil act" and a "war crime".

Iran's largest uranium enrichment plant was severely damaged

On the other hand, the head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog said that Iran's largest uranium enrichment plant has been severely damaged.

Rafael Grossi, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, told the BBC on Monday that about 15,000 centrifuges at Iran's largest uranium enrichment plant, Natanz, are likely to all be severely damaged or destroyed due to power outages caused by Israeli air strikes. Another factory located in Fordow suffered very limited damage or even no damage at all.

Iran said that Israel's consecutive days of attacks have killed at least 224 Iranians, most of whom were civilians. Israel said that 24 people were killed, all of them civilians.
