The US Department of Justice said on Wednesday (December 24) that it has discovered more than one million documents that may be related to the case of the late sex offender Epstein and it will take several weeks to review the documents before they can be made public.
The US Department of Justice said in a statement on social media on Wednesday that the documents were discovered by the Federal Prosecutor's Office for the Southern District of New York and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and have been handed over to the Department of Justice. The legal team of this department is working day and night to review the documents and make necessary deletions in accordance with the law to protect the victims.
The statement said that the Ministry of Justice will release the batch of documents as soon as possible, but due to the large number of documents, this process may still take several weeks.
US President Trump had previously been opposed to making public the archives of the Epstein case, but under strong pressure from Republicans, he eventually agreed to support the bill passed by both houses of Congress with an overwhelming majority to make the archives public.
Despite this, many of the files that the US Department of Justice began to release last Friday (the 19th) have been significantly absedged, with their contents concealed, which has sparked multiple controversies.
