Iranian President Peghizchiyan said that Iran still has "deep-rooted and historical distrust" towards the United States and emphasized that "keeping one's word remains the foundation for meaningful dialogue".

Al Jazeera reported that Pezhesizayan posted on the social media platform X on Monday (April 20th) saying: "Apart from Iran's deep-rooted historical distrust of the actions and conduct of the US government, the recent non-constructive and contradictory approaches taken by US officials also convey an outrageous message: They are attempting to force Iran to surrender."

However, he emphasized that the Iranian people will never yield to coercion.
