Iranian President Peshiziyan said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) must abandon double standards before Tehran can resume cooperation with the IAEA on its nuclear program.
Reuters, citing Iranian state media, reported that Pezehizyan said in a phone call with European Council President Costa on Thursday (July 10) that whether Iran will continue to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency depends on whether the latter can correct its own double standards problem.
He also made it clear that any repeated aggression against Iran would be met with a more decisive and fierce response.
In mid-June, Israel launched a large-scale air strike against Iran, bombing multiple Iranian nuclear facilities and killing several senior military officers and top nuclear experts. The US military also launched air strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities at the end of June. US President Trump claimed that all the Iranian nuclear facilities had been completely destroyed.
Since the outbreak of the Israeli-Iran conflict, the relationship between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency has further deteriorated. Tehran has now ceased its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The International Atomic Energy Agency released a report before Israel launched the attack, claiming that Iran had violated its nuclear non-proliferation obligations. Iran accused the report of the International Atomic Energy Agency of providing an excuse for the Israel-US attacks and criticized the UN nuclear watchdog for failing to condemn the air strikes by the US.
