Iran: It has not yet requested talks with the United States

Iran said on Tuesday (July 8) that it has not made any request for talks with the United States. Previously, US President Trump said that Tehran was seeking negotiations after the war with Israel last month.

Reuters reported that according to Tasnim News Agency, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bakai said, "We have not made any request for talks to the US side."

Trump said on Monday (the 7th) that Iran is seeking talks with the United States and that the talks have been arranged, but did not specify the time and place. We have arranged talks with Iran. They hope to hold talks.

They hope to meet. They hope to find a solution. They are completely different now from what they were two weeks ago.

Iranian Foreign Minister Aragchi also reaffirmed Tehran's position of refusing to hold talks at this stage.

In an article for the Financial Times, he said: "Despite the information Iran has received in recent days suggesting that the US may be ready to return to negotiations, how can we believe that the talks will proceed further?"

On June 13th, Israel launched a bombing campaign against Iran, targeting military facilities, nuclear facilities and residential areas, and causing the deaths of senior military commanders and nuclear scientists.

The attack occurred just days before Tehran and Washington planned a meeting aimed at restarting nuclear talks, which have since come to a standstill.

On June 22, the United States joined Israel in launching attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz.

Aragchi said, "After sincerely agreeing to new negotiations, we saw the two nuclear-armed forces respond to our goodwill."

Iran remains interested in foreign relations, but we have every reason to be skeptical about further dialogue.
