Israel destroys Hezbollah's underground facilities in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah: Israel violated the agreement

The Israeli prime minister and defense minister issued a joint statement saying that the Israeli military destroyed the underground facilities used by Hezbollah in a village in southern Lebanon.

Reuters reported that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz issued a statement on Sunday (June 28th) saying that the United States had been informed of this attack beforehand. The target of the attack was a 200-meter-long tunnel located in the town of Majdal Zoun, and it was claimed that the tunnel contained hundreds of weapons and launchers.

This attack occurred two days after Lebanon and Israel reached a security agreement mediated by the United States. According to the agreement, the Israeli army would withdraw from certain areas in southern Lebanon in stages, while the Lebanese army would be deployed in place, but the Israeli troops were still allowed to remain in the expanded security zone.

On Monday (the 29th), Hezbollah said that Israel's attack was "flagrantly" in violation of the ceasefire agreement. It also stated that Hezbollah is closely monitoring all such violations and reserves the right to "defend the homeland and its people".

The leader of Hezbollah, Kassem, refused to accept the security agreement, claiming that it was a surrender to Israel and emphasizing that Hezbollah would continue its armed resistance.

Netanyahu said in his statement on Sunday evening that the Israeli army will continue to be stationed in the security zone in southern Lebanon and will "continue to dismantle terrorist infrastructure, eliminate the threat to northern communities, and ensure the safety of Israeli citizens."
