Israeli former Prime Minister Bennett admitted on Tuesday (June 23rd) that Israel had smuggled Starlink technology to Iran in an attempt to assist anti-government demonstrators. However, he said that the current government led by Prime Minister Netanyahu failed to implement the relevant plan.

Reuters reported that Bennett served as the Prime Minister of Israel from 2021 to 2022. At the JNS International Policy Summit held in Jerusalem, he told the attendees that he had initiated a plan to purchase and smuggle tens of thousands of Starlink receivers into Iran in order to ensure the continuous operation of Iran's internet and social networks.

Iran previously accused Israel and the United States of smuggling Starlink to undermine its security. Starlink has not obtained the necessary operating license in Iran, but Musk previously stated that Starlink had already been put into use in Iran.

Bennett said that the purpose of smuggling Starlink was to help the demonstrators coordinate their actions and ultimately overthrow the Iranian government.

Unfortunately, the current incompetent Israeli government has halted this work. When the protests occurred, the infrastructure was not yet in place.

The Iranian authorities have several times cut off the internet access of the public, including during the nationwide protests in January this year and during the US-Iran war that began in late February.

Reuters previously reported that some Iranians had turned to using Starlink services during the period when the internet was unavailable.

Bennett is the leader of a right-wing political party. He plans to participate in the general election scheduled for October. He said that Israel and other Middle Eastern countries need to "unite" to defeat and eventually overthrow the Iranian government.

"This is a corrupt, outdated, disconnected and incompetent regime. It will disintegrate just like the Soviet Union did."
