The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has expressed serious concern over the latest announcement by the US government that it is ending emergency food aid to 14 countries.
The World Food Programme (WFP) said in a statement on social media late Monday that if the decision is carried out, the lives of millions of people living in extreme hunger and near famine will be at risk, Xinhua reported. "It could be a death sentence for these people."
The statement said that the World Food Program is in communication with the United States on this matter and calls on the United States to continue to support these life-and-death assistance programs.
