彭博社报道，英国国家统计局星期三（8月16日）公布，7月消费者价格指数(CPI)涨幅为6.8％，低于前月7.9％的涨幅。但这一数据高于经济师预计的6.7％，也是六个月来第五次超出预期。
不包括食品和能源价格的核心通胀率7月维持在6.9％，经济师此前预期为小幅下降。能源和食品帮助降低了总体通胀率，但运输成本上升。
再加上星期二（15日）公布的薪资数据创纪录攀升，这些数据使得人们更强烈认为，英国正经历七国集团（G7）国家中最严重的通胀螺旋上升形态。投资者对央行将在下次会议加息25基点甚至更多的猜测，已经升温。
