UN sources said that in a UN foreign employees' residential area in the Yemeni capital Sana 'a, 20 UN employees are still being detained by the Houthi forces.

A source from the United Nations Office in Yemen told Xinhua News Agency on Monday (October 20) that among the 20 detained employees, five are Yemenis and the remaining 15 are foreigners.

Sources said that the Houthi forces raided this residential area for UN foreign employees last Saturday (18th), and released 11 local employees the next evening, but still detained the remaining 20 employees there.

Sources also said that Houthi intelligence personnel remain stationed in the residential area and continue to interrogate the detained UN employees. However, these employees are permitted to have limited contact with their families.

It is learned that those detained include Peter Hawkins, the UNICEF representative in Yemen, as well as foreign representatives of several UN agencies and international organizations.

Yemen's Houthi leader, Al-Houthi, said in a televised speech last Thursday (16th) that there were "dangerous spy groups" within humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen that assisted Israel in attacking the Houthi forces in Sana 'a in August.
