(GAZA) The United Nations said on Tuesday (November 4) that since the ceasefire between Israel and Kazakhstan, they have distributed food packages to one million people in the Gaza Strip. Despite this, it warns that the distribution of essential food supplies must be accelerated and every second counts to save lives.
The United Nations World Food Programme has emphasized that all border crossings to Gaza should be opened to deliver a large amount of aid supplies to the people of Gaza. Authorities said it is still unclear why the northern border crossing with Israel remains closed.
The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Kazakhstan brokered by the United States came into effect on October 10. The World Food Programme's Middle East spokesperson, Etfa, told AFP in Geneva: "Since the ceasefire in Gaza more than three weeks ago, we have distributed food packages to about one million people in the Gaza Strip." This is part of our large-scale anti-hunger operation in Gaza."
The goal of the World Food Programme is to distribute food packages to 1.6 million people in Gaza. Each package is enough for a family to consume for 10 days. Etfa pointed out that to achieve this goal, it is necessary to open more channels and more border crossings.
