The Israeli government approved the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement with Hamas in the early hours of Friday (October 10), paving the way for the cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip within 24 hours and the release of the last batch of Israeli hostages and more than 2,000 Palestinian prisoners within 72 hours, taking an important first step towards ending two years of bloody war.

According to reports from the BBC and Reuters, Israel's security cabinet held a meeting at 5 p.m. on Thursday (10 p.m. Singapore time on Thursday) to discuss the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Vitkov and Trump's son-in-law Kushner also attended the Israeli cabinet meeting and sat side by side with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Netanyahu's office issued a statement after the meeting, announcing that the Israeli government has approved the framework agreement for the release of all hostages.

Netanyahu called it a "major development" and expressed his gratitude to US President Trump, as well as Vitkov and Kushner who attended the Israeli cabinet meeting.

Netanyahu also posted on the X platform that all hostages, including those who are still alive and those who have died, will return.

Trump said that the Israeli hostages might be released next Monday or Tuesday (the 13th or 14th). At present, 48 hostages are still being held in the Gaza Strip. It is reported that 20 of them are still alive.

According to the relevant content announced by the mediators of the negotiations, the agreement reached between Israel and Hamas will lead to the end of the war, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, as well as the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
