News: Preliminary reports indicate that Iran's nuclear program has only been postponed for a few months

Three people familiar with the matter disclosed that according to the initial assessment of the US intelligence agency, the US strikes on three key nuclear facilities in Iran last weekend only delayed Iran's nuclear program for a few months.

CNN, which was the first to report the incident, quoted informed sources as saying that more than a dozen bombs dropped on the Fordo fuel enrichment plant and the Natanz enrichment center did not completely destroy the centrifuges and highly enriched uranium at the two nuclear facilities.

According to The New York Times, two of the unnamed sources pointed out that the classified investigation results of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) of the United States indicated that the attack blocked the entrances of two of the nuclear facilities but did not destroy their underground structures.

The Defense Intelligence Service is the main intelligence agency of the United States Department of Defense and one of the 18 intelligence agencies of the United States.

This confidential assessment report does not conform to the claims of US President Trump, Defense Secretary Hegseth and other senior US officials, who said that the attack last weekend largely destroyed Iran's nuclear program.

U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Shay told the UN Security Council on Tuesday (June 24) that the U.S. attack on Iran's nuclear facilities has "downgraded" Iran's ability to produce nuclear weapons.

When asked by CNN, White House spokeswoman Levitt said the conclusion of the "so-called report" was "completely wrong". She said, "Everyone knows what happens when you precisely drop 14 30,000-pound bombs on the target: total destruction."

Reuters reported that the assessment of the damage to the nuclear facilities in Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz is a formidable task, and the Defense Intelligence Agency is not the only agency undertaking this work. A source said that the assessment results of the Defense Intelligence Agency have not been widely recognized and have caused significant differences.

An anonymous US official said that the United States was not yet clear about the extent of damage to Iran's nuclear facilities. However, initial assessment indicates that this attack may not be as successful as claimed by the Trump administration.

One of the sources said that Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium has not been completely eliminated. In fact, Iran's nuclear program might have only been postponed for one or two months.

The Pentagon refuted the claim that Iran's nuclear program was only slightly damaged, but did not dispute the assessment results of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Hegseth said in a statement provided to Reuters: "Based on everything we have seen - and I have witnessed it myself - our bombing operation has destroyed Iran's ability to build nuclear weapons."

The confidential briefing on the bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities originally scheduled for members of the House of Representatives and the Senate on Tuesday has been cancelled.
