The campaign of Vice President Harris said Sunday it has raised a record $540 million since she launched her presidential bid more than a month ago, with a third coming from first-time donors.
Harris, who had been President Biden's running mate, ran for the White House after Biden announced his withdrawal on July 21, and chose Minnesota Governor Michael Woltz as his deputy.
Harris campaign manager Jen O 'Malley Dillon said the campaign had raised just over $500 million before Harris accepted the party's nomination in a speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, and that after Harris' speech, they received their highest hourly donations on record.
"In just over a month since launching their campaign, the Harris and Woltz campaigns have raised $540 million -- a record for any campaign in history," Dillon said.
Harris, 59, replaced the aging Biden in the race, giving a boost to Democratic donors and small donors who had been locked up in the wake of Biden's election failure, and inspiring more grass-roots party members to join the "volunteer army" for her campaign.
With just over two months to go before the November election, Harris and Republican rival Donald Trump remain neck-and-neck in the polls. The first debate is scheduled for September 10.
