Aeroflot cancelled dozens of flights on Monday (July 28) due to a malfunction in its information system. A mysterious hacker group claimed responsibility for this cyber attack.

Reuters reported that a statement from a hacker group called "Silent Crow" said the group, in collaboration with a Belarusian group called "Cyberpartisans BY", planned the operation.

The statement said: "Glory belongs to Ukraine!" Long live Belarus!

Previously, the "Silent Crow" organization claimed responsibility for the attack on the Russian real estate database in January.

Aeroflot said it had cancelled more than 40 flights after reporting a failure in its information system. Experts are striving to minimize the impact and restore normal service operations.

Aerogas has listed on Telegram that over 40 flights to various parts of Russia, as well as to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, and Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, have been cancelled.

The statement of the Silent Crow organization said that this cyber attack had been prepared for as long as a year, deeply penetrated the network of Aeroflot, destroyed 7,000 servers, and took control of the personal computers of employers including senior managers.

The organization threatened that it would soon release the personal data of all Russians who had taken Aeroflot flights.

Despite sanctions due to the Russia-Ukraine war and significant restrictions on travel and routes, Russian airlines still rank among the top 20 in global passenger traffic.
