Several suspects arrested on suspicion of the jewelry theft at the Louvre in France appeared in a Paris court to be questioned by a judge.

The AFP reported that the Paris prosecutor's office did not disclose the number of suspects who appeared in court on Saturday (November 1st).

On October 19th, four masked men came to the outside of the Louvre, the world's most visited art museum. They worked in coordination to operate the lifting device and sneered into the building from the external balcony. Within minutes, they snatched nine pieces of jewelry, among which a crown belonging to Queen Eugene was later found.

The Paris prosecutor's office said on the 21st that the economic loss caused by the robbery of the Louvre Museum is estimated to reach 88 million euros (131.98 million Singapore dollars). The two suspects arrested by the police on the evening of the 25th have "partially admitted" their involvement in the robbery and have been charged with "organized theft" and "criminal gang crime", and are being detained pending trial.

The French authorities initially announced the arrest of two suspects. Prosecutors announced this week that the police have arrested five more people in Paris and its surrounding areas, especially in the Seine-Saint-Denis region in the northern suburbs of Paris, including a main suspect.

A lawyer told AFP that one of the five suspects arrested this week has been acquitted.

Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau said on the 29th that the first two men arrested were the two main suspects suspected of breaking into the exhibition hall, with two accomplices outside keeping watch at that time.

The stolen jewelry remains unaccounted for to this day.
