Israel intercepted the rescue ship Madeleine and deported the people on board

After the Israeli Navy intercepted the rescue ship Madeline bound for the Gaza Strip, it detained the people on board. The Israeli Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday (June 10) that the people on the ship had been sent to Tel Aviv Airport and deported.

The rescue ship Madleen is carrying relief supplies for the Gaza Strip and is operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which is composed of pro-Palestinian charities. Early Monday morning (the 9th), it attempted to break through Israel's years-long maritime blockade on this coastal area. When the ship approached the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army boarded the ship and detained 12 crew members, including Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and French member of the European Parliament Rima Hassan.

Reuters quoted a statement from the Israeli Foreign Ministry as saying that the yacht flying the British flag had been towed to the Ashdod port in Israel, and the crew on board were sent to Ben Gurion Airport overnight. Some people are expected to leave within a few hours. Those who refuse to sign the deportation documents and leave Israel will be deported in accordance with Israeli law and authorized by judicial authorities.

The statement also added that consular representatives of the passengers' countries of origin welcomed them at the airport.

These activists carried a small amount of humanitarian aid supplies, including rice and infant formula milk powder, and expressed the hope of raising international awareness of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Rima Hassan, a French member of the European Parliament and one of the crew members on the ship, confirmed on social media that all the crew members were arrested by the Israeli army in international waters around 2 a.m. on Monday.

Tonberry accused Israel of holding her hostage in international waters. She said in a video recorded before the Israeli Navy operation: "I urge all my friends, family and comrades to pressure the Swedish government to release me and others as soon as possible."

US President Trump refuted the claim that Tonberry was held hostage. "I think Israel already has many problems and there is no need to kidnap Greta Tunberry anymore," he said. "She is young and full of anger..." I think she should take an anger management class.

Macron: The humanitarian blockade of Gaza is a disgraceful act

French President Emmanuel Macron said Monday that the humanitarian blockade of Gaza was "ugly" and "shameful", and called for the reopening of humanitarian supply routes. Macron also called for a ceasefire in the Palestinian territory.

Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a statement last Sunday (the 8th) that he had ordered the Israeli military to prevent the Madeleine from reaching the Gaza Strip, and Israel would not allow any action to break the Israeli military's maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip.

Since March this year, Israel has re-blocked the Gaza Strip and resumed large-scale military operations, resulting in a severe shortage of basic living supplies for the local people.
