Zelensky: Ukraine will import natural gas from Greece

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday (November 16) that Ukraine will import natural gas from Greece to meet winter demand and promised to raise nearly 2 billion euros to make up for the loss of domestic natural gas production caused by the Russian attack.

Reuters reported that he issued a statement on Telegram saying: "Today, we have reached an agreement with Greece on supplying gas to Ukraine, which will become another gas supply route to ensure winter imports as much as possible."

We have reached an agreement on financing natural gas imports - nearly 2 billion euros (about 3 billion Singapore dollars) will be raised for natural gas imports to make up for the loss of Ukraine's natural gas production caused by the Russian attack.

Zelensky will visit Greece on Sunday and then he will go to France and Spain.

In the fourth year of its war against Ukraine, Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine's power plants, transmission systems and natural gas production facilities.

Zelensky said that Kyiv has allocated funds for importing natural gas from European partner countries. The sources of funds include European banks guaranteed by the European Commission and local banks in Ukraine. At the same time, it is cooperating with US partners to ensure that the funds are fully in place.

He added that Ukraine is expanding its winter supply channels through its Polish partners and is currently cooperating with Azerbaijan, hoping to reach a long-term gas supply agreement.
