A Russian military commander told Putin on Sunday (April 27) that the "remnants of Ukrainian troops" remaining in the Kursk region of Russia would soon be wiped out.
Reuters, citing the Russian state news agency, reported that the commander said: "At present, we have recaptured and fully controlled the Gornal settlement and camped on the streets."
He added that the Russian army is continuing to clear the forest areas in the west and south of Gorna.
Putin said on Saturday (the 26th) that the Ukrainian army's offensive in Kursk had completely failed. Previously, Moscow said that the Ukrainian army had been driven out of the last village under their control.
Kiev said that the Ukrainian troops have not completely withdrawn from Kursk and they are still operating in Belgorod, another Russian region bordering Ukraine.
