Israel has revoked the visas of Australian diplomats stationed in Palestine

Israeli Foreign Minister Sarr announced that Israel has revoked the visas of several Australian diplomats stationed at the Palestinian Authority.

Xinhua News Agency reported that on Monday (August 18), Sal wrote on the social media platform X that he also instructed the Israeli Embassy in Australia to carefully review any official Australian visa applications for entry into Israel.

The background of the above decision is that Australia has decided to recognize the State of Palestine, and the Australian side has "unjustly" refused to issue visas to several Israelis, including former Minister Shakad and far-right MP Rotman.

In response to Israel's decision, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning Israel's decision as "violating international law".

Australia has a representative office in Ramallah, a city on the West Bank of the Jordan River, responsible for liaison with the Palestinian Authority.

Australian Foreign Minister Angela Wong said in a statement that Israel's decision was an "unreasonable response" and that "at a time when dialogue and diplomacy are needed more than ever, the Netanyahu government is isolating Israel and undermining the efforts of the international community to promote peace and implement the 'two-state solution'."

Australian Prime Minister Albanese announced on the 11th of this month that Australia will recognize the State of Palestine at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly to be held in September.
