In recent days, protests targeting Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians have swept across major universities in the United States, as well as conflicts between police and protesters, frequently taking place on various campuses. According to a report from the website of Congressional Hill, Green Party presidential candidate Gil Stan stated that she was arrested on the 27th local time during an anti Israel protest at Washington University in St. Louis.
Stan posted a video on social media platform X, showing Jill Stan's hands tied behind his back and being escorted out of the campus by two police officers. The post also stated that Stan's campaign manager and deputy were also arrested.
In response to the unprecedented chaos in American universities, Iranian President Leasi publicly stated at a government meeting on the 28th local time that the US government's crackdown on arrests of Palestinian students has exposed the true face of the West and the United States. The hypocritical side of Western civilization is more exposed than ever before in front of the world's people. The protests and awakenings of the American people against oppression and hegemonic rule will not be suppressed by violence, beating, or arrest.
President Lacey pointed out the truth behind the United States' severe crackdown on student protests. In the past, the US government used to accuse other countries of opposing protest activities under the guise of freedom and democracy. However, this time, the US internal crackdown on supporting the Palestinian people reflects that the US and the West are also doing similar things and practicing double standards. Therefore, the US has no right to interfere with democracy and human rights issues in other countries.
Looking at major universities across the United States, student protests are becoming increasingly intense.
At Harvard University, students disregarded the school's ban and launched a massive protest over the past weekend. They not only planted the Palestinian flag on the campus, but also launched a giant flag protest on the rooftop of the hotel where Biden attended the White House Writers Association dinner. Several authoritative media outlets around the world have claimed that Harvard has fallen.
The situation at the University of Texas at Austin is even more severe. Due to Governor Abbott's order for strict law enforcement by the police, the local police and elite units dispatched by the state police department jointly enforced the law, and at least more than 30 people were arrested. In order to demolish the campsite built by the students, the police even deployed bulldozers, and there were also police officers holding batons riding horses into the crowd to drive away the students.
At the famous Michigan State University, protesting students and police repeatedly competed for a campsite, even forming a back and forth tug of war.
At the prestigious Emory University, a professor said of the chaotic scene at the time, "I feel like I'm in a war zone," "surrounded by police and their weapons, as well as rubber bullets.". And another professor still has lingering fear because he saw his colleague being pointed at by the police with a gun to the head.
At Columbia University, it is the center of this round of protest movement. The standoff between the school and the students is still ongoing. Recently, many faculty and staff members of the school held a rally and organized a strike to support students who were arrested, suspended, or even expelled from dormitories, demanding an immediate apology from the school.
At the University of Southern California, the official graduation ceremony was cancelled due to protests sweeping across the campus.
For any country in the world, universities should have been a place for freedom of thought, dialogue, and speech, but currently in the United States, all of this is on the brink of collapse. I don't know where the self proclaimed freedom, democracy, and human rights space in the United States lies. People are waiting to see how the US government will end this farce.
