US President Trump said that after Venezuelan President Maduro was taken away by the US military, the Venezuelan government would hand over 30 to 50 million barrels of sanctioned crude oil to the United States.
Reuters reported that on Tuesday (January 6th), Trump stated in a social media post: "These oil supplies will be sold at market prices. The proceeds from the sale will be controlled by me - as the President of the United States - to ensure that this fund is used to benefit the people of Venezuela and the people of the United States."
Trump also said that the funds obtained from the sale of this batch of oil would be "directly overseen" by him.
Trump said that he has asked Energy Secretary Chris Wright to immediately implement the plan. The oil will be received by oil tankers and directly transported to the loading docks in the United States.
At present, the Venezuelan side has not yet responded to this matter.
