The Air India crash has killed at least 265 people and a black box has been found.

The Hindustan Times said on Friday (June 13), citing police officials, "According to the information we have received, 265 bodies have been delivered to the hospital." The report said that the crash site of the passenger plane was located in a densely populated area and the death toll included people on the ground.

On Thursday afternoon, an Air India Boeing 787-8 passenger plane flying from India to the UK crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad Airport in Gujarat. The on-site footage shows that the passenger plane rapidly descended after taking off, exploded and caught fire after hitting a building, and the wreckage of the plane was scattered everywhere. Air India said there were 230 passengers and 12 crew members on board.

Air India confirmed on social media on Friday that among the 242 people on board in the crash, 241 have been confirmed dead and one survived. The only survivor is an Indian-British citizen who has suffered a chest injury and is being treated in the hospital.

In addition, according to Indian media reports, the black box at the rear of the crashed passenger plane has been found, while the search for the black box at the front is still ongoing.
