Trump nominated Glass to be U.S. ambassador to Japan

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former diplomat and investment banker Glass to be the U.S. ambassador to Japan.

According to Reuters, Trump said on his Social media platform Truth Social on Monday that George Glass served as the US ambassador to Portugal during his first term as president.

Mr Trump said Mr Truss "as a former president of an investment bank, will bring his business acumen to this ambassadorial position".

Glass is an Oregon businessman and one of the fundraisers for Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.

According to the State Department, Glass founded MGG Development LLC in 2015, a Lake Oswego based company that buys and operates apartment complexes and rental homes.

Previously, he founded Pacific Crest Securities, a Portland-based investment bank, where he served as President and Vice Chairman from 1990 to 2014.
