The number of severe flu cases in Japan has reached a record high

According to Japan's TV Asahi reported, recently, the seasonal flu epidemic in Japan, the number of confirmed patients wrote a record high.

Statistics from Japan's health ministry show that in the week ending December 29, 2024, about 5,000 medical institutions across the country reported 64.39 cases of seasonal flu per institution, more than double the alert standard of 30, and an increase for 10 consecutive weeks, China News Service quoted TV Asahi as saying on Thursday (January 9).

This is also the largest number of infections since the current method of counting was introduced in 1999.

At present, 43 of Japan's 47 prefectures have reached the alert level, of which Oita prefecture is the most, the number of infections per health facility has reached 104.84.

The health ministry urged the public to continue to take basic measures against the infection, such as frequent hand washing, gargling, wearing masks and ventilation.
