South Korean President Yoon Seok-yoon's implementation and lifting of emergency martial law, senior aides above the level of senior secretary of the presidential office on Wednesday (December 4) announced their collective resignation.

Yonhap news Agency reported that the South Korean presidential Office released a news on the morning of the 4th that the chief of the presidential office and the first secretary collectively expressed their intention to resign. It is reported that staff members above the level of the first secretary held a meeting on the morning of the 4th under the auspices of Chief of Staff Chung Jinsuk and agreed to resign collectively.

Meanwhile, South Korea's largest opposition party, the Minjoo Party, issued a resolution calling for Yoon to step down immediately. The Minjoo Party said that Yoon's declaration of emergency martial law clearly violates the Constitution and does not meet any relevant legal conditions, and that the declaration of martial law is not only invalid at all, but also constitutes a serious unconstitutional and civil disturbance act, which meets the conditions for impeachment.

On the same day, South Korea's largest labor union launched a "general strike" until Yoon resigned. The 1.2-million-member KCTU accused Yoon of taking "unreasonable and anti-democratic measures" to "declare the end of his power" and called for a general strike.
