Kazakhstan's transport ministry has sent the flight information recording system (" black box ") of the crashed Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane to Brazil.
According to the relevant provisions of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan decided to send the black box of the Arab Airlines plane crash to the Brazilian Air Accident Investigation and Prevention Center for further investigation after fully considering the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization and consultations between Azerbaijan and Russia, Xinhua News Agency quoted Hatun News agency on Monday (December 30). Experts from the Azerbaijani Investigative Committee went to Brazil together.
Kazakhstan's transport ministry said the plane was made by Embraer of Brazil, the country of origin of the plane. The Brazilian Center for Air Accident Investigation and Prevention has accredited laboratories and the necessary technical capabilities to analyze black box data.
Azerbaijan said on the same day that Moscow has promised to identify and punish those responsible for the shooting down of the Azerbaijan Airlines passenger jet. Baku said the plane was shot at by Russian air defenses before it crashed in Kazakhstan.
On Dec. 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines flight from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Grozny, Russia, crashed near the western Kazakh city of Aktai with 67 people on board, including five crew members, killing 38 of them.
