Bangkok, Thailand, reported that as of 6 a.m. (7 a.m. Singapore time) Sunday (March 30), Myanmar's powerful earthquake has killed 17 people in Bangkok, 32 people injured and 83 people missing.
The Bangkok city government said it was conducting a search-and-rescue operation and had allocated 200 million baht (S $7.9 million) in emergency funds for disaster relief.
The Thai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Agency issued a notice on the same day, pointing out that the main impact of the Myanmar earthquake on Thailand is concentrated in the northern and central areas. As of 6 a.m. Monday, 17 provinces including Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces and the Bangkok area were affected.
At present, Pathun Thani Province and Pha province have been listed as emergency disaster relief areas, and Bangkok has been in a state of emergency since 28. The government has opened applications for aid and mobilized the army, police, local governments, charities and volunteers to help rescue efforts, while 355 rescue machines have been deployed to speed up the process.
