South Korea's Constitutional Court said Tuesday that President Yoon Seok-yeol has yet to receive the National Assembly's impeachment resolution sent by the Constitutional Court.

Constitutional Court gazette officer Lee Jin said the National Assembly resolution to impeach Yoon was being served, but the presidential office had not yet confirmed whether it had signed the document, Yonhap news agency reported.

According to the Constitutional Court, the court sent Yoon a resolution of impeachment from the National Assembly on the morning of July 16 and asked him to submit a reply to the court within seven days after receiving the notice. Considering that the court sends the documents in three ways, namely by personal service, special registered mail, and administrative system E-mail, if Yin Xiyue receives the notice on the same day, he must submit the defense before the 23rd. However, the presidential secretariat has not officially confirmed whether it has been received. If the resolution is not delivered in time, the deadline for Ms. Yin to file her plea will be delayed.

Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court decided not to broadcast Yoon s impeachment trial live.

On whether Han Duck-soo, the acting president, can appoint the three judges who are currently vacant, Lee said that there is a precedent for Hwang Kyo-ahn, the acting president, to appoint the three judges. Asked whether the six judges of the current Constitutional Court could pronounce a ruling if Han Duck-soo does not exercise his power of appointment, Lee said the court was discussing the matter.

In order to confirm the impeachment and removal of the president, at least seven of the nine judges of the Constitutional Court must be present and six must agree. At present, however, three judges are vacant and the Tribunal operates on a six-member system.
