Bernham said in a recent interview with the BBC that he has no plan to hold a general election in the UK before 2029. "I will rule out this possibility," he said, because he believes that voters do not want an early election, and he is currently focused on getting the country "back on track".

Burnham succeeded Stammer as the Prime Minister of the UK last week. The BBC reported that Burnham did not specify when the government would commit 3% of the GDP to defense spending.
