The long-standing battle of the tech company Google against the 4.1 billion euro antitrust fine imposed by the European Union has finally ended in defeat; the top judge of the European Union ruled that the regulatory body's penalty for this American tech giant's abuse of its market power in the Android sector was correct.

Bloomberg reported that the European Court of Justice ruled on Thursday (July 2nd) that Google's appeal against the penalty imposed by the European Commission should be rejected. This decision is legally binding and represents a major victory for the Brussels-based regulatory body.

Since imposing a fine on Google in 2018, regulatory authorities have been engaged in a battle with Google at the European Court of Justice.

Regarding the judgment, the court stated in its declaration: "The appeal filed by Google and its parent company Alphabet against the judgment of the European General Court has been rejected, thereby confirming the penalties imposed on Google's abuse of its dominant market position in the Android operating system sector."
