Cuba accuses the United States of fabricating false documents to justify sanctions and aggression.

Cuban Foreign Minister Rodriguez accused the US government of fabricating false documents in an attempt to justify the tightening of sanctions against Cuba and possible military aggression.

Rodriguez posted on social media on Sunday (May 17th) saying that the US government "continuously fabricates false documents", providing "legitimacy" for its brutal economic war against the Cuban people and ultimately its military aggression.

He criticized some American media for spreading such rumors, emphasizing that Cuba does not threaten other countries with war, but instead insists on upholding peace. At the same time, it will, in accordance with the legitimate self-defense rights recognized by the UN Charter, be ready to defend itself against external aggression.

Reuters reported that Rodriguez did not explicitly mention the accusations regarding the drones in the post.

According to Xinhua News Agency, Deputy Foreign Minister of Cuba, Dequisio, also said on social media that the excuses fabricated by anti-Cuban forces for military aggression have become increasingly absurd. He emphasized that the United States is the aggressor and Cuba will exercise its legitimate right of self-defense against the aggression.

Earlier that day, the US news website Axios quoted US classified intelligence documents, reporting that the Cuban military, with the assistance of Russia and Iran, had purchased over 300 military drones and had recently begun discussing the possibility of using these drones to attack the US military base at Guantanamo, US ships, and the city of Key West in Florida. A senior US official said that the US government regards Cuba as a threat, and these intelligence documents may serve as an excuse for the US to take military action against Cuba.

The US has recently intensified its sanctions against Cuba and has repeatedly threatened to use force against Cuba, including claiming that it would "take over Cuba" when the US military returns from its war in Iran. In response, Cuba stated that the US military aggression threat has reached a "dangerous and unprecedented level", but Cuba will not yield and will resolutely defend its national sovereignty and independence.
