The confirmed cases of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have risen to 343.

According to reports from Xinhua News Agency and Reuters, Congo (DRC) Health Minister Kamamba said that as of Monday (June 1st), there were 343 confirmed cases of Ebola in the country, with 48 deaths.

Kamba stated that after the government delegation visited the capital of eastern Ituri Province, Buunya, the response measures have become more precise.

The spokesperson of the Congolese (DRC) government, Muyaya, said that the Bunia airport, which has been closed except for humanitarian flights, is expected to reopen this week. "The reopening of the airport will help provide support for the epidemic response efforts."

Furthermore, the Brazilian authorities stated on Monday that the test results for two patients suspected of having contracted the Ebola virus were both negative.
