India has become the fourth country to achieve space docking after the US, Russia and China

India has successfully docked two satellites in space, a key step towards its dream of building a space station and sending a man to the moon.

India's Polar Satellite Launch vehicle lifted off on December 30, 2024, carrying two satellites for the Space Docking Test (SpaDeX) mission, AFP reported. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Thursday (January 16) announced the successful completion of the space docking test, with two satellites docking in a precise maneuver, marking a historic moment.

The move marks India as the fourth country after Russia, the United States and China to achieve this important milestone. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the successful completion of the space docking test, calling it an important cornerstone of India's ambitious space mission in the coming years.

India's space docking tests have been delayed twice before due to technical problems. The Space Research Organization says the technology is crucial to India's moon mission.

India wants to make greater strides in space, becoming the fourth country to land an unmanned spacecraft on the moon in August 2023. Modi announced last year that he would put a man on the moon by 2040.
