The Japanese Cabinet has passed the resolution to dissolve the House of Representatives

On Friday (January 23rd), Prime Minister Koizumi Masahisa and all cabinet members signed and approved the resolution to dissolve the House of Representatives at the cabinet meeting. The House of Representatives will officially be dissolved on the same day.

The Nikkei Shimbun reported that Takashi Koike and all the cabinet members held a cabinet meeting on the 23rd. The meeting concluded at around 9:30 am (8:30 am Singapore time) and a resolution to dissolve the House of Representatives was passed.

According to a report by the Japanese newspaper "Mainichi Shimbun", the Committee on House Operations of the Japanese House of Representatives decided at a board meeting on the 21st that a plenary session of the House of Representatives would be held at 1 p.m. on the 23rd. It is expected that the House of Representatives will officially be dissolved at the beginning of the meeting.

Takako Takimoto announced on January 19th that the House of Representatives election announcement would be released on January 27th, and the voting would take place on February 8th.
